2009-10 Hoops Schedule Released

OTTUMWA --- A 2009-10 basketball schedule that includes 20 regular season home games and six tournaments has been released by Indian Hills Community College. Four of the tourneys will be played on the Warriors’ home court at the Hellyer Student Life Center.

Indian Hills, which was 30-3 a year ago, will play its first five games of this season at home. Then, after three straight games on the road, the Warriors will have another five-game homestand. The regular season concludes with six of the last nine games at the Hellyer Center.

The IHCC season and home opener will be Nov. 3 when the Warriors battle Carl Sandburg College from Galesburg, Illinois. The following weekend, Nov. 6-7, Indian Hills will host the first of its home invitationals, the Jack Blackwell Tire Classic. Indian Hills will take on Southwest Academy and Lee College from Baytown, Texas on consecutive nights.

Kennedy-King College from Chicago and Ellsworth CC will provide the opposition the next weekend for the Klyn Automotive Classic.

Indian Hills will have two home tourneys in December, hosted by Hy-Vee and Courtside Bar & Grill. The Warriors will play in two tournaments on the road, one in November when they take on Missouri powers Three Rivers and Mineral Area on back-to-back nights, and the other in Marshalltown in mid-December.

The Warriors will close out 2009 with three straight games Dec. 29-31. Mineral Area will be the opponent on Dec. 30 and IHCC will celebrate New Year’s Eve against Western Nebraska on the 31st.

The six-game conference season starts Jan. 16 with a home contest against Marshalltown and ends with a road trip to Southeastern on Feb. 20. Southeastern is the team that ended the Warriors’ season last year, winning the final two games in the best-of-three Region 11 postseason tourney.

Season tickets for the IHCC home games are currently on sale in the Indian Hills athletic office at the Hellyer Center on the Ottumwa campus. The cost is only $100 if purchased before October 1. After that, season tickets will be $120.
