Offense Sputters in Loss to Moberly

Ottumwa -- Two days after scoring a season-low 48 points in a loss to Northeast (Neb.), Indian Hills managed only two more points than that in a 65-50 home loss to Moberly (Mo.). The loss drops the Warriors' season record to 16-5 heading into the conference opener at Southeastern next Saturday night.

The visiting Greyhounds jumped on the Warriors early, building a 10-2 lead less than five minutes into the game. They eventually increased the lead to 16 points at 27-11.

IHCC appeared to get untracked, cutting the deficit to 10 on a basket by Trey Starks and two free throws each by Gary Ricks and Latroy Taylor. But an offensive rebound goal by Moberly's Derrick Dilworth enabled the Greyhounds to take a 32-20 halftime lead.

After the Warriors scored the first points of the second half to cut the margin to 10 points, they never got that close again. Moberly used a quick 6-0 run to go on top 38-22 and they eventually led by 18 points in winning for the second year in a row at the Hellyer Center.

When the Greyhounds beat Indian Hills on a last-second tipin in overtime last year it snapped a 10-game winning streak in the series for the Warriors.

Ronnie Boggs led all scorers with 24 points for Moberly. Ricks was the lone IHCC player in double-figures with 16.

Indian Hills was held to 33% field goal shooting (18-of-54) while Moberly shot 53% from the floor (26-of-49). The Warriors really struggled from behind the 3-point line, making only 3 of 21 attempts.
