Ottumwa -- The 10th-ranked Indian Hills Warriors bounced back from their first loss of the season -- suffered six days before at Southern Idaho -- to defeat Ellsworth CC, 102-90, on Friday night.
It was IHCC's 26th consecutive win at the Hellyer Center and their 8th win overall this season.
The Warriors used an 8-0 run to pull away from a 20-20 tie in the first half and increased the lead to 15 at 52-37 by halftime. They shot 57% in the opening half, 75% from inside the 3-point arc.
Both Jamel McKay and Justin Moss had 10 of their 12 points by halftime. McKay wound up with a double-double with 11 rebounds to go along with his dozen points.
Indian Hills ran out to a 20-point lead in the second half, but the Panthers battled back to within seven points on two occasions, the last at 85-78 after a 3-pointer by David Dep.
Jelan Kendrick -- who led the Warriors with 18 points and added nine assists -- and Dustin Hogue scored for IHCC and Trinson White added a field goal to get the lead back to 13 and Ellsworth didn't threaten again.
Ronald Ross hit four 3s and scored 17 for the Warriors and Hogue tallied 16. Malcolm Canada's 25 points for ECC led all scorers.
It was the fifth time in nine games that IHCC has scored over 100 points and kept their season scoring average over 100 points a game.
