Ottumwa -- Indian Hills broke away from visiting Malcolm X College with a 27-3 run in the first half and the Warriors went on to notch their 10th win of the season on Friday night, blistering the Hawks, 115-77.
Malcolm X hung with the 12th-rated Warriors early in the game, forging five ties and eventually taking a 26-23 lead. That's when IHCC caught fire, scoring 27 of the next 30 points, a run that ended with the Warriors scoring 18 points in a row.
By halftime, the lead had grown to 25 points and Indian Hills didn't let up in the second half. When Ronald Ross hit a 3-pointer with 7 1/2 minutes to play, IHCC had eclipsed the 100-point mark for the sixth time in the season.
It was one of four 3s for Ross, who scored a team-high 21 points. Five teammates joined him in double figures. Richard Amardi tied his season high with 14 and Gary Williams, Jr. also scored 14.
The Warriors played without their leading scorer, Jameel McKay, whom coach Barret Peery said sat out the game because of a violation of team rules.
Kendrick Nichols had a big night for Malcolm X, leading all scorers with 32 points.
The victory improves the Warriors' season record to 10-1. They will wrap up the two-day PCS Classic on Saturday night when they host Independence (Kan.) CC.
